With all of the information available on my blog as well as the internet in general, I thought it would be helpful to share a list with all of the products that I use on my lawn. The lists below are categorized by type. I’ll be updating this list occasionally as I learn new techniques and find better options.

Grass Seed

Grass Type: Turf Type Tall Fescue (wider blade, good heat tolerance)
Insecticides
- Grubex
Purpose: prevent grubs that can kill the lawn
Lawn Fungicides
- Scotts DiseaseEx
Purpose: prevent or treat fungus or diseases such as rust, dollar spot, brown patch
Lawn Equipment & Tools
- Blade Balancer
Purpose: ensure sharpened mower blade is balanced - Groundskeeper 2 Rake
Purpose: dethatch smaller sections of the lawn - Greenworks Lawn Dethatcher
Purpose: dethatch the lawn to remove dead grass - Ortho Hose-End Sprayer
Purpose: liquid applications such as soil soil ammendments or weed killer - Scale
Purpose: weigh correct amount of product to spread per 1000 sqft - Scotts EdgeGuard Mini Broadcast Spreader
Purpose: spread fertilizer or pre-emergent - Soil Thermometer
Purpose: determine exact soil temperature to apply pre-emergent (around 50°F)
Lawn Fertilizers

Purpose: Spring or Fall fertilizer - Scotts Lawn Food
Purpose: Spring or Fall fertilizer - Scotts Starter Fertilizer
Purpose: use when seeding or overseeding
Pre-Emergents
- Scotts Pre-Emergent
Purpose: use when seeding or overseeding to prevent weeds
Post-Emergents
- Tenacity
Purpose: spot spray weeds that resisted pre-emergent and weed b gone - Weed B Gon Concentrate
Purpose: spot spray weeds in mid-late Spring
Soil Health
- Humic Acid
Purpose: mix with sea kelp to add nutrients to strengthen the soil - Lime
Purpose: raise soil pH - Sea Kelp
Purpose: mix with humic acid to add nutrients to strengthen the soil - Soil Test Kit
Purpose: get soil pH level (Ideal between 6.0 – 7.0)
