This week I added humic acid and sea kelp to my lawn. This is optional step is included in my Cool Season Lawn Guide. Humic acid and sea kelp have many benefits, not only to improve the soil but the lawn as well. As with anything relating to soil improvement, you won’t see instant results in your lawn. However, over time this natural mix will improve soil structure and nutrient absorption.

Humic acid helps to create a crumb-like structure in the soil, making it easier for water and air to get down to the soil. Think of it as all natural soil aeration. Additionally, the sea kelp provides essential micronutrients and promotes root growth. Check out this article I posted if you would like to know more about the benefits of humic acid and sea kelp.

I applied this solution at 4oz per 1,000 sqft. timing it before rain was expected. I plan to apply this to my lawn at least a couple more times throughout the season. I hope you are enjoying your time in your lawn, remember to take a moment to admire all of the hard work you’ve put into it, and remember, don’t stress – it’s just grass.
